Frequently asked questions
How do I use the Fake Tweet Generator?
Use this editable fake tweet template to make an X post mockup for a design, presentation or joke. Customize the name, handle, badge, text, photos and engagement numbers, then copy the image or export it as a PNG. Edit the name, handle and post text, and choose a blue, gold or gray badge in Profile. Mentions, hashtags and links turn blue, as they do on X. Add up to four photos and a local avatar. Choose light, dim or dark mode, then adjust the timestamp and engagement numbers beside the preview. Choose a background or export just the post. Copy the image, or download it as a PNG.
Can I edit the verified badge, date, views and likes?
Yes. Choose a blue, gold or gray badge in Profile, then edit the timestamp, views, replies, reposts, likes and bookmarks beside the preview. Gold uses a square profile photo, as organization accounts do on X. These are visual details for a fictional screenshot, not changes to an actual X account or post.
Can I add a photo to a fake tweet?
Yes. Choose Add photos, or paste or drop images onto the post text. You can attach up to four PNG, JPEG or WebP photos, arranged the way X shows one to four images. Photos stay in your browser.
Does this publish to X?
No. It creates a local PNG image and never connects to an X account.
Can I use my own avatar?
Yes. Choose a local PNG, JPEG or WebP image up to 5 MB. It is used only in your browser.
How do I make a fake tweet screenshot?
Edit the post template, set the date and metrics beside the preview, then choose Export PNG. On a computer, Copy image puts the picture on your clipboard; on a phone, Share sends it straight to an app. The tool creates an image from your mockup rather than capturing a live X post. Switch between light, dim and dark mode before exporting.
Can I export the post with or without a background?
Yes. Turn Background on for extra padding around the rounded post card, then choose a solid color or gradient. Turn it off to export just the post. The preview shows the style that will be used in the PNG.
What should I know before using this tool?
This makes an illustration, not a real published post. Do not use a mockup to mislead others about what a person said. Images and text stay in your browser.
